LEGO Dungeons & Dragons (71047)

Series 71047 was LEGO's first crossover with Dungeons & Dragons in collectible minifigure form. Rather than one theme such as sports or animals, it cuts across the whole universe of the world's best-known tabletop roleplaying game: seven heroes who could plausibly be sitting at the table as player characters, and five icons lifted straight out of the rulebooks and adventure modules. It arrived on 1 September 2024, the same year D&D turned fifty and LEGO released its large Ideas set with the red dragon.

Collections where every single figure comes with a story attached are rare. The dwarf barbarian, the elf bard and the halfling druid are the archetypes most players start with. Across the table wait Strahd von Zarovich, the lich Szass Tam, the mind flayer, Tasha and the silent Lady of Pain, characters who function as celebrities within D&D and get an instant reaction from fans.

Parents can have the short version: swords, magic and monsters, very much in the knights-and-dragons register, so it entertains children who have never heard of the game itself.
