Gith Warlock
Why does this one look more science fiction than fantasy? The gith tore themselves free of the mind flayers generations ago, and their yellow-skinned warrior-mage keeps nothing of the standard elf-and-knight look.

About this minifigure
The gith have a genuinely grim history. For generations the illithids kept them as slaves, and the rebellion that won them freedom also split them into two feuding factions: the warlike githyanki and the ascetic githzerai. Putting one of them in the same series as a mind flayer is hardly an accident.
The warlock class adds a second layer. A character like this does not earn magic through years of study; it comes from a pact with a powerful entity, which by definition makes the motives murky. That suits a campaign where nothing is cleanly good or evil.
On a shelf the figure needs no introduction, because nothing about it resembles the standard elf or knight. It sits well among science-fantasy characters, and anyone running a campaign out on the Astral Plane tends to keep it on display.
Did you know: The name githyanki was coined by a teenage Charles Stross, borrowed from George R. R. Martin's novel Dying of the Light.
