Aarakocra Ranger

LEGO Dungeons & Dragons ยท 71047 No. 6

Does anything in 71047 fly? The Aarakocra Ranger does: a bird humanoid who tracks, shoots and scouts, and a certainty for anyone who collects animal minifigures.

Data Matrix codes: Aarakocra Ranger

One of these codes is printed on the bottom of the box, next to the barcode.

LEGO prints a different code for each production batch and region, which is why one item has several. The scanner recognises all 3.

About this minifigure

Aarakocra resemble birds of prey, nest on mountain peaks and are closely tied to the elemental plane of air. They have been part of D&D since the 1980s and usually turn up as distant, faintly mysterious allies who drop out of the sky at precisely the right moment.

The ranger class completes the picture. A tracker, a marksman and an expert in the wilds, this is the party member responsible for scouting and for the first warning of an ambush, and some rangers bring an animal companion along too. He fights at range, which makes him the exact opposite of the dwarf from the same series.

Bird heads are still a rarity in LEGO, so the figure earns its place well beyond the D&D context and happily joins collections of owls, eagles and other winged creatures. A child who likes anything that flies will usually point at this one first.

Did you know: Aarakocra first entered D&D as monsters in a bestiary, long before they became a race available to players.
