LEGO F1 Race Cars (71049)

F1 Race Cars (71049) is the collection where LEGO swapped minifigures for racing cars. Twelve models wait inside the boxes: one in the colours of each of the ten Formula 1 teams, plus a car from the F1 Academy series and one with no team allegiance at all. Each has rolling wheels, and a minifigure head in a team-coloured helmet sits in the cockpit.

The collection came out as part of LEGO's broad tie-up with Formula 1, spread across 2025 and effectively every product line — from Duplo through City and Speed Champions to the big Technic models. Against all of those, F1 Race Cars is the cheapest way in: one small box holds one car, and nothing about it demands a serious outlay.

The catch is the same as in any blind-box series — you cannot see what you are getting from the outside. A child set on the red Ferrari or the orange McLaren can quite easily come home with a third Haas in a row. The answer is the Data Matrix codes printed on the packaging: every car has its own set of numbers, so scanning the box tells you what is inside. For collectors that means no duplicates while chasing all twelve; for parents, no argument in the shop.
