About this minifigure
Strahd is not a generic vampire to be dispatched. He comes with his own tragedy: a former warrior who bargained with dark powers for love and immortality, and was rewarded by being imprisoned in his own domain along with the entire land. The adventure built around his castle is widely rated among the best ever published for D&D, and it has been reworked for later editions.
In 71047 he covers the gothic corner of the universe. Instead of dragons and dungeons you get mist, aristocracy and straight horror, which is why collectors tend to pose him with the vampires from Halloween minifigure series rather than alongside the fantasy line-up.
A child sees an elegantly dressed vampire, a motif familiar from dozens of other sets. A player sees something else entirely, because this is the moment LEGO aims squarely at a sentimental memory.
