F1 Car

LEGO F1 Race Cars · 71049 No. 12
🏆

The F1 Car does what a plain, unbranded kit does in a sports shop: it stands for the sport rather than for any one side, and it carries no sponsors and no team colours.

Data Matrix codes: F1 Car

One of these codes is printed on the bottom of the box, next to the barcode.

LEGO prints a different code for each production batch and region, which is why one item has several. The scanner recognises all 3.

About this minifigure

In a series built around specific teams, this model steps outside the scheme entirely. It is not a Ferrari, not a Red Bull, not anything in between. It is Formula 1 in its plainest form, and the lack of sponsor printing leaves a cleaner shape, which plenty of collectors count as a feature rather than an absence.

For play it may well be the best of the twelve. Nobody needs to know the drivers or last weekend's results, because the car can be whatever you want: your own team, an entry in an invented league, a rival for the other eleven. Nothing here dictates the story. It also works as a first model for a younger child who cannot tell the teams apart yet.

Collectors see it differently. In a finished set it is the last piece of the puzzle, and nothing else in the row looks like it. Parked at the end, it reads like a signature on the whole series.
