About this minifigure
Williams was built from nothing by Frank Williams and Patrick Head, and the team has been based at Grove for decades. Through the 1980s and 1990s it won almost everything, then went through a very lean stretch, and is now slowly finding its form again under a new owner and a new team boss. Older fans pick this car out of pure sentiment.
The livery is calmer than most of its rivals', and in bricks that works in its favour, because nothing distracts from the shape of the car. White and navy look classic here, without the sponsor noise most modern cars have accumulated.
Bought blind, Williams tends to be a surprise: few people hunt for it, and few people mind getting it. Anyone who knows the team's history will rate it among the more interesting models in the series. On a finished shelf, this is often the car that stops someone who remembers racing three decades ago.
