Fluffy Cat

Fluffy Cat

When a cat settles into a patch of warm sun and refuses to move, the room quietly belongs to it, and that unhurried mood is what this costume is after.

Data Matrix codes: Fluffy Cat

One of these codes is printed on the bottom of the box, next to the barcode.

LEGO prints a different code for each production batch and region, which is why one item has several. The scanner recognises all 3.

About this minifigure

This is not the first feline suit in the Collectible Minifigures line, but the Series 28 version aims at something different from its predecessor: the impression of soft, dense fur. Hence "Fluffy" in the name, and hence the instinct to stroke it, even though it is moulded in hard plastic.

In play the cat behaves quite differently from show-off costumes like the Peacock or the Crocodile. It does not steal attention, but it slots happily into town scenes — a windowsill, a sofa, a window in a modular building. It is one of those minifigures that genuinely ends up inside a build instead of standing in a row on a shelf.

It is worth warning a younger child that there is a person under the suit, not a cat to be carried around. For most of them that turns out to be the appeal: this character can walk, sit in vehicles and be handed props borrowed from other sets.

Did you know: The first cat costume arrived in Series 18, released in 2018 to mark the minifigure's fortieth anniversary.
