About this minifigure
Bionicle launched in 2001 and spent well over a decade building its own world and an unusually devoted following: the Toa, the Kanohi masks, the island of Mata Nui and a story told in parallel across books, games and films. For a good number of today's adults it was the first LEGO line they properly fell for.
LEGO winks at long-time fans here and smuggles a piece of its own history into an ordinary classic minifigure, with no grand relaunch attached, but a clear signal that nothing has been forgotten.
There is no mystery about who to give this one to. If anyone in the house still remembers red Tahu or blue Gali, it lands perfectly, even a quarter of a century on from the first Toa. Small wonder it is the figure that comes up most often whenever Series 29 is discussed.
