About this minifigure

Steampunk is the aesthetic of an alternative Victorian age in which electronics were never invented and everything from prosthetics to airships runs on steam and gearing. LEGO reaches for the style rarely and usually goes all in when it does, because it gives designers an excuse for detail: dark gold, leather, clock-face printing.

That is why he climbs favourites lists among reviewers and adult collectors, and less often among children — without the genre in your head he is just a man in odd goggles. In custom builds, though, he earns his place, suiting workshops, laboratories, flying machines and anything meant to look like a nineteenth-century invention.

For a display set, he is the figure named most often in 71048 after the Wolfpack Beastmaster. And since the boxes are sealed, the only reliable way to land the inventor specifically is to check the code underneath.

Did you know: The word "steampunk" was coined in 1987 by the writer K.W. Jeter in a letter to Locus magazine — half in jest, as a name for Victorian fantasies written in the spirit of cyberpunk.
