Longboarder

LEGO Series 27 ยท 71048 No. 7
๐Ÿ›น

If you know boards at all, the deck gives him away before the clothes do: a longboard is built for covering ground and carving turns, not for tricks on a ramp.

Data Matrix codes: Longboarder

One of these codes is printed on the bottom of the box, next to the barcode.

LEGO prints a different code for each production batch and region, which is why one item has several. The scanner recognises all 3.

About this minifigure

Skateboarding minifigures come back around regularly, so the board itself is not the news. The mood is. Everything about the character reads relaxed rather than sporty, and the backpack fills in the rest: this is someone getting across town, not someone waiting for a turn at the ramp.

He goes down well with older children and teenagers who may have moved on from knights and dragons but will happily stand a minifigure in their own style on a desk. In building terms he goes anywhere there is a city: parks, seafronts, ramps and quiet residential streets.

Collectors mostly value him for parts, since the board and the bright outfit find work quickly in custom layouts. He is not among the scarcer figures in the series, so he can usually be tracked down without much of a chase.

Did you know: Longboarding grew out of sidewalk surfing โ€” Californian surfers bolting wheels to boards so they had something to do on flat days.

Got a box? Check whether it is Longboarder

Scan the Data Matrix code on the bottom of the box and see what is inside โ€” without opening it, and without installing anything.
