About this vehicle
The drum does not spin because somebody nudged it with a finger. Drive comes off the wheels through a worm gear, so simply rolling the model across a table sets the mixer turning, slowly, much the way it happens on a real site.
This is exactly the sort of thing people keep coming back to Technic for. A handful of parts converts wheel rotation into drum rotation, and the whole gear train sits out in the open with nothing covering it up. A child sees magic; an older builder sees a clear little lesson in gearing packed into a few dozen bricks. Nothing has to be wound or switched on first, either.
The tilted drum also makes the model easy to recognise from across the room. Anyone arranging the series as a miniature building site usually puts the Cement Truck in the front row. It looks best in motion, too: nothing else in the box does its job simply because you are pushing it along.
