Train Kid
There is always a platform waiting for this one. Anyone who has ever laid track out of bricks finds a spot for the Train Kid within seconds of opening the box, and the figure spends the rest of its life watching trains go past.

LEGO prints a different code for each production batch and region, which is why one item has several. The scanner recognises all 3.
About this minifigure
With the Train Kid, LEGO is making a character partly about itself. Railways have been part of the company for decades and whole generations started there, so an ecstatic small train enthusiast reads as a nod to those fans. Sentiment is doing a great deal of the work here.
Anyone who builds LEGO trains has an obvious home for it, and the city works too, since a child waiting for a train suits any station. It photographs well, because that delighted face beside a passing train is a ready-made shot.
Likeable and entirely unaggressive, it sits close to the experience of a child who tugs at a sleeve to go and watch the trains. It makes a sensible choice for a first collectible minifigure, with no monsters and no weapons to explain, so it lands well with children who are only just discovering LEGO's collectible series.
Did you know: LEGO has sold trains since 1966. The first powered sets ran on a 4.5V motor along blue track, and the railway grew into a separate branch of LEGO that is still going strong.
