Out of the box comes something the rest of Series 25 is short of: quiet. The Goatherd settles onto a hillside or into a village and asks nothing else of whoever is building around it.

About this minifigure
Every LEGO series includes somebody entirely ordinary to balance out the rest. Here that job fell to the goatherd, a figure associated with high pastures, bells and walking behind the herd. The archetype is as old as storytelling itself, and it turns out surprisingly warm in brick form.
Villages, farms and mountain dioramas gain from it at once: one figure gives the scene a point, with no fantasy needed around it. It gets on well with LEGO City's farm sets, and looks just as natural in a medieval village as on a modern smallholding.
Children who are mad about animals rank the Goatherd high on their lists, because grazing, herding and searching for a lost animal arrange themselves into a game around it. Calm and legible, with nothing in it that might frighten anybody, it also makes a sensible first purchase for a younger collector who is only starting to complete series.
Did you know: Goats have horizontal, rectangular pupils and a field of view of more than 300 degrees. That lets them spot a predator on an open slope with barely a turn of the head.
